Give Yourself the Gift of Extra Time to Heal

When Sally O’Brien consulted a medical intuitive in Chicago, the woman advised Sally to attend all three weeks of the Optimum Health Institute (OHI) holistic healing program. She explained the first week of the program focused on detoxifying and alkalizing the body, while the second week helped guests process deep emotional baggage. The third week went deeper in all areas of body, mind, emotions and spirit healing, and helped guests process and integrate all the new information.

A Seattle area chaplain and holistic healer with a master’s degree in theology, Sally assured the intuitive she had already done all her emotional work but decided to follow the woman’s advice and sign up for the entire 21 days. That decision, Sally now says, changed her entire life.

Sally had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis years earlier and had done a lot of work with both eastern and western medicine to attack the disease on all fronts. She rarely needed a wheelchair, and effectively counseled and inspired a full roster of students and clients, including hospitals.

Sally enthusiastically sailed through the first week at OHI. Although she was already an advocate of healthy eating, she said she had no idea of the crucial importance of achieving, and maintaining, an alkaline balance in the body.

Her real breakthrough, though, didn’t happen until 10 days into the holistic healing program. It was when OHI Austin Program Director Cheryl Green asked guests in her Emotional Detox class to each name a positive emotion. One of the participants said, “Safety.” While Sally had never thought of “safety” as a positive emotion, it resonated for her, and she chose to focus on that during Cheryl’s guided meditation. Deep in an Alpha state, Sally realized she never really HAD felt safe, and her body had a visceral response. The emotions percolated up with such intensity that Sally began sobbing, and couldn’t contain her feelings. She felt she had to leave the room.

“I teach classes in this,” Sally said. “It was the first time I grasped that I never felt safe. To realize something so profound about yourself is the very definition of an ‘ah-ha’ moment.” For decades, she had repressed her emotions and fears about abusive situations in her past. Not feeling safe, she suddenly understood, was why she had trust issues. The following day she had a colonic and found out she also had candida. It released during her session.

“I’m very intuitive,” Sally said, “and my body is very good about telling me, when it’s the right time, what is going on. I’ve been doing this for years – I’m a chaplain. If it took me a week and a half, it’s going to take a lot of people at least that amount of time to really integrate their body, mind, emotions and spirit.”

While Sally’s courage to face her fears was transformational, she also credits Cheryl for offering the perfect support and compassion. Sally is able to apply her newfound awareness to her counseling and healing work, and knows she’ll be able to help people on a much deeper and more profound level. She’s continuing to follow many of the OHI holistic healing guidelines, and recommends a visit to OHI – for at least two weeks! – to anyone desiring to heal their life.
